Marccus Partners expands into China
Marccus Partners is pursuing its strategy of expansion into the fastest growing economies in the world.
Following the opening of its Moscow office, Marccus Partners today announces the conclusion of a "Long-term Entrustment Agreement" with the law firm HHP in Shanghai.
Credible actors on their markets
HHP today has 25 lawyers and 9 partners. All of them come from the most prestigious law schools in China. HHP has built up a reputation for excellence in M&A, real estate and construction, financial services and litigation. HHP is also one of a few Chinese
firms that advise on anti-trust and tax matters.
HHP's Managing Partner Jun Dai says: "Joining forces with Marccus Partners and the Mazars group will give HHP a big boost in inbound and outbound business. We see a perfect match in the expertise and clientele of both partners. Our Chinese clients will get
access to the strong legal and tax expertise of Marccus Partners in Europe and together we can better tackle the exciting challenges in law and business not only in mainland China but also in other jurisdictions."
Bernd Sagasser, managing partner of Marccus Partners says: “We are not only extremely pleased that we can now offer to our clients in China legal and tax advice with partners whom we have known for more than 10 years - it’s also the strategic component on which, together with HHP, we can build a platform to expand into the Asian Pacific region alongside Mazars and to offer our clients in Asia “legal and tax excellence for business and finance”.
A long term relationship
Many partners of Marccus Partners and HHP were already working together as one firm between 2000 and 2006 when HHP was the Chinese member firm of Haarmann Hemmelrath. When Hemmelrath joined forces with Mazars in 2006, HHP Shanghai decided to remain with no international alliance in place. In 2007, Bernd Sagasser, former partner of Haarmann Hemmelrath, became the managing partner of the European law firm Marccus Partners (part of the Mazars group). So the “reunited” partners know each other very well and provide a seamless, synchronized service with a strong focus on Corporate M&A, Real Estate, Banking & Finance, Capital Markets and related tax structuring. Like Marccus Partners, HHP has further developed over the last few years a strong track record and substantial experience in litigation and arbitration, mainly representing European and US clients.
